SAY HELLO TO B9 AND OUR FIRST PROJECT ON IT FOR NAT GEO FOX LIFE
Call it coincidence but the we got the B9 creator just when we needed it (Thank you to Kathrin from http://www.zlab3d.com/ for fast tracking the shipping in fact hand delivering it herself awesome !!!! ) .
We had to make 34 figures in different poses in just 3 days. Infact we would also have to make them print ready since they were going to be exported from Poser ( 3D software for posing characters).
The figures were to be 3 inches tall. Since we did not have the B9 earlier we tried it out in Flashforge FDM 3D printers.
Now, Fdm printers are not meant to print out figures 3 inches small. If we just put them straight in for printing with supports it makes a mess. So we split the figure and were printing the hands, face and body separately. It ended up taking us 5 hours to print out one 3 inch figure. We were staring at an impossible deadline.
This is where the B9 comes in. We assembled it in 2 days and a test print figure was done. It came out awesome!!!
Heres the best part : 1 figure took 4 hours to print on the B9 and 4-5 figures also took the same time!!!! Taking the time from 5 hours per figure to 1 hour per figure while giving a better output.
So without further wait here are the links to the Fox Life promo and behind the scenes !!! :
